I’m in my mid-fifties, and if you had asked me twenty years ago what success looked like, I might have said: more bars, more TV deals, more everything.
Today? My answer’s simpler. Success is doing what you love—and being able to make a living doing it. I’m lucky enough to have done that.
It’s also about giving back. About building something that outlasts you. About creating spaces that help people connect. And lately, I’ve been focusing more and more on that: mentoring my teams, showing up for my community, and making time for family.
I’ve slowed down. Downsized. But I’ve never felt more purposeful.
There’s a three-picture film project kicking off in a few weeks that I’m excited about. And Mic’s is starting to feel like the true neighborhood staple we hoped it would be. So what’s next? Just continuing to build with heart—and hopefully, leave behind something worth remembering.
